Cosmetic Dentistry in
North Central San Antonio

When it comes to maintaining oral health, dentist visits once every six months is the standard recommendation. This helps keep the mouth and teeth disease free, and in overall good health. But what if the color or position of teeth is less than perfect, and the patient wants to improve their smile? That’s where a cosmetic dentist comes in.

A cosmetic dentist’s primary job is improving the aesthetics of our patient’s smile. This could include making changes to tooth alignment, color, position, and size.

The Smile Evaluation

To get started, we look at the alignment of the teeth, do they need orthodontic intervention to straighten them. We look at their smile to see how much gum shows, the size of the teeth and the proportions. If there are gum issues, we refer those to a periodontist. A lot of factors are taken into consideration before a plan is created.

Some procedures may be completed in a couple of visits, but if we’re doing a comprehensive smile makeover, that’s going to take a lot more time and visits to achieve the desired effect.

Procedures

At our clinic, we repair any chipped or broken teeth. Some may need crowns, but often by using veneers, or composite bonding, which are minor procedures, we’re able to change the tooth’s proportions. This makes a dramatic difference in the patient’s smile without costing a lot.

Procedures we may use include

Inlays and Onlays
Provides a filling for a tooth too decayed or damaged to support a direct restoration.

Composite Bonding

One of the simplest and least expensive cosmetic dental procedures available. Composite resin is shaped and molded on the teeth to provide a straight, white smile. It’s mainly used to treat minor chipped teeth, gaps, and staining in fillings and teeth.

Teeth Whitening

The most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure year after year, teeth whitening can vastly improve the look of a patient’s smile.
Dental Veneers
Veneers are custom-made and are meant to change the color, shape, size, or length of the teeth’s appearance once bonded in place.

Dental Crowns

Also referred to as caps, a dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that’s placed over the tooth to restore its natural appearance. They’re used for the protection of a weak tooth with extensive decay or to hold a fractured tooth together.

Bridges

Partial bridges are used to fill the gap created by missing teeth. They feature two or more crowns that replace the missing teeth, and are supported by the natural teeth.
Dental Implants
An implant is a surgical procedure that involves drilling into the gums to implant a fake root made of titanium into the jawbone. This will provide strong support for a permanent artificial tooth or teeth.

Smile Makeover

A smile makeover is when one or more cosmetic procedures are used to improve the patient’s smile. A combination of veneers, implants, whitening, or any of the other procedures listed above would be considered a smile makeover.

Dr. Lazor doesn’t believe in “capping up” teeth, so they look like Chiclets. If the natural tooth looks nice and functions well, we make every effort to keep it. Our philosophy is to make significant changes using as little dentistry as possible.
